Long time no blogging

Courtesy of L @ Viva Carlos...

1: If your horse could talk what would they say? What would they be like?
Super Kid would definitely would be like me, or one of the girls off Mean Girls. Sarcastic, smart and witty

Rhyme would be this fish, not even joking, he can be so obnoxious sometimes, he can't help it though he's just at that stage of development. If its really bad stuff like chewing on everything and being pushy he gets in trouble but if its the other stuff I just ignore him

2: If you were a horse, what would you look like (color, markings, etc), what discipline would you do, and what would you be like to ride?
I would be either a grey (SK) or chestnut mare with a small blaze and snip. Definitely would be crazy and do eventing and rock the upper levels. Definitely would be one of those horses that only certain people could ride, much like SK is.

3: How many barns have you ridden at?

Ummm, I've always had my horses at home but have taken lessons at other barns
4: What kind of bay do you prefer? (bright bay, blood bay, etc)
Any but I love bright and blood bays

5: Can you braid a horses mane? Tail?

I can braid both good enough to get by in eventing and dressage but don't let any hunters look at them.

6: Do you believe that you have to fall off in order to be a good rider?
No, you have to work hard to be a good rider

7: What do you think is more important: eq or effective riding?
Effectiveness over EQ anyday, mostly because I know a lot of good EQ riders that if you take away their made horse and put them on something that requires work they wouldn't be able to ride it.

8: Are there any "horse couples" at your barn?
No, but Super Kid and Teagan where a couple until he left

9: Favorite treat to feed your horse?
Super Kid is allergic to apples so not apples. I don't know I usually just feed regular treats

10: Silly quirks your horse has.
She loves to have her front legs stretched out before you get on. She will bolt at imaginary things, and to this day could randomly spook, she will usually come when you call her. Rhyme has skin problems, no joke, he also will follow me around like a dog, even if I'm cleaning the pasture or something he comes up and hangs out, he has problems

11: Strangest thing you've fed your horse.
Arrow has eaten pizza willingly before, Super Kid LOVES butterscotch hard candies

12: Have you ever made any horse friends through the internet?
Yes

13: Would you buy horse furniture?
umm no?

14: Funniest horsey moment
When SK was being bad at Dom Schramm's this summer and he got on her. She was NOT happy, including pissy pony kicks out to the side and grouchy faces,

15: Post a picture of your horse (or any horse) making a silly face that you got on camera!

Leave me alone human, trying to sleep
Whatever, stay there, I am NOT getting up tho

16: What's a moment with horses that you wished you caught on camera?

I wish I could have video taped all my lessons at Dom's over the summer, we seriously improved so much with someone there constantly telling me what to fix do etc. I want to go back, hopefully, and continue our plan to possible go training

17: How old was the youngest horse you've met?
I had a foal born in my lap when I was little

18: How old was the oldest horse you've met?
Probably my old pony Annie who HAD to be in her mid 30's

19: Opinion on colorful tack? (like red or blue)
I like colorful accessories, the tack itself, blah

20: Have you ever tried horse treats? Hay?
Both yes, both blah

21: Have you ever felt like giving up on a horse?
More than once I have said I was giving up but I haven't yet

22: Tell the story about the horse that you first felt "click" immediately with you (and if you can't remember, most recent)

I guess the first time I really truly felt like me and SK where really rolling together and a team would be at IEA this year, funny three years this summer that I've had and we are finally there

23: Ever ridden side-saddle? How was it?
Nope, would probably die

24: Most interesting place you've ridden at.
KHP, so much history there,

25: What kind of horse do you like? (sport, stock, endurance, etc)
Sporty like a ferrari but stocky enough to be sound forever

26: Do you feel like you have more patience with horses than people?
OMG yes

27: Is the horse you ride very vocal?
Rhyme is, SK not so much

28: Ever ridden in the sunset?

Yes

29: How do you like a horse's mane? (roached, pulled, long, etc)
Roached or pulled, doesn't matter as long as it is taken care of and kept untangled

30: What is your dream name for a horse?

E= MC^2 AKA the Speed of Light, SK future foals name, no joke

Fly high my friend

Earlier this morning Eventing Nation posted about Erin Go Bragh passing at the ripe old age of 30. I can honestly say the reason that I am an eventer is because of that pony. I watched the movie The Little Horse that could so many times when I was little that even now I can recite every word. Here is a link to the wonderful last chapter that his rider Carol Kozlowski wrote.

Sunday Conformation Series #1: Your Confirmation Hit List

This is an idea that Cob Jockey  developed  and I thought it was a good idea.  I am weird when it comes to conformation. Personally I think that all the really good eventers right now have funky conformation and I don't like it. I personally don't like a personal show horse to be over 15.3h. I'm a shorter person at 5'5, I can't ride a large horse very well. If they are over 15.3 then they have to be special for me to like them

Conformation Ideal (for me)
I am not just saying this but my horse has about the most ideal conformation ever. Besides the fact that her legs are a little on the skinny side

 Super Kid 15h Holstiner\Lipizzan x Welsh cob

She has pony legs, and I love it. She is 13 now and so far hasn't shown any signs of arthritis.

Horse conformation that I like
Schramm Equestrian Cold Harbor

This horse is built UPPPHILLLLLL, its awesome. He will never have a problem rocking back on his hind and pushing. Which is why he is a awesome 2* horse. He is about 17h something (when I was working there I needed a bucket to clean his back and but on his tack). You can't see in this picture but his hind end is built like a horse that can jump. Its under him, he can launch off the ground.

Horse #2
7 yr old TB 16.3h.

He's a cutie, but I wouldn't keep him as a competition horse, maybe a good project. One thing that I see right now is that he is downhill slightly, but most TB's are to be honest. You can see in the picture below that he doesn't push off his hind end. You can tell this by seeing if the front foot hits before the opposite back.

Horse # 3

Rhymes dam's sire Limerick. He is or was a dutch warmblood stallion. He has some of the key things I like in a eventer, big bones, strong hind, etc. He was sadly never shown or even jumped so we will never know how he is with that, only can guess based on his offspring.

Happy 18th B-day to me!!

I am officially an adult ): I can legally buy liniment now. Since you have to be carded in Indiana for it now, dumb rednecks trying to get high off everything. I promise that I will update soon. Busy busy me

Long time, no blogging

I have been home the past week, but I have been trying to catch up at school because I missed the first week and half. I was on the East Coast learning a ton and waking up at 5am to do what I love.

I really don't have a lot to say except those people are amazing. I was welcomed into their barn and home and was trusted riding some of their horses once in awhile. If you want to see all the pictures they are on my Facebook photography page. Now Super Kid and I are getting ready for Hagyard Midsouth team challenge, we are going to be on a team hopefully with a little pony named Picasso who is ADORABLE!! Super Kid and him will get cuteness points. Hopefully I will get back into the swing of blogging sometime soonv

The huge announcement isssss

Super Kid and I will be leaving for three weeks on Tuesday. I am going to be a working student with Dom and Jimmie Schramm, this is super exciting and totally last minute. This was all arranged in the last three and four days. I will be missing the first week of my senior year, but honestly what do you learn in the first week?? Anyway I really don't know how much I will be able to blog but hopefully. So here are some pictures from the lesson I had with him on Wednesday

Pony Face likes to jump

Nice novice jump in my lesson with Dom Schramm
I might have a HUGE announcement in the next few days involving me and ponyface going on a road trip. If you guess what it is I will make your pony treats and send them to you

Stallions for ponyface

Should I ever decide to breed Super Kid here are the things I am looking for in a stallion
  • MUST be over 15h and under 16.1h
  • bigger bones than ponyface
  • proven show record
  • must have good jump
  • not super hot but not exactly 110% calm

Things they can not be or
  • Have a history of melanoma in their family
  • Never shown
  • mean tempered
So if you have any idea's please comment. THIS IS NOT A SURE THING. I said if Super Kid gets hurt (not seriously please) and has to have a year or two off then this is an option. Someday I do want my own foal from her that I can see grow up and train and compete myself.

Summer heat and fly tips

First go enter Equestrian At Hart's contest here!!

I am going to share a few of my summer horsey tips on keeping them cool and the flys off for the most part.
My first tip is the get this product
I use this for EVERYTHING almost. I put it on the inside of their ears to keep the biting gnats out,  under their jaws, on their belly buttons, anywhere where the flies and gnats just keep biting aways and making them miserable
My second tip is to hose them off, scrape them off then fly spray, good way to cool them off and get the flies.
Third tip is to install a fan in your run in ( where the ponies can't reach it to get hurt), in the summer if your horse isn't stalled in the daytime, they will be spending most of their time in the shade so if possible make it so they have someway to keep as cool as possible.
If you notice a horse showing signs of heat exhaustion, like colic symptoms, laying down and getting back up, generally looking uncomfortable, breathing heavily and having an elevated heartbeat, hose them off with cool water, scrape them off and repeat until they get cooled off.

Teagan's Glass, Meeting Leslie Law, and Rhyme's hip

Well as many of you know I have acquired Teagan as a free-lease pony, well he isn't vary happy because I am making him do all dressage work. He is a classic TB and doesn't want to bend unless forced or really relax and stretch down and stretch over his back and actually push off his hind legs. Well the first week we had him we just free-lunged him just because he hasn't been working for a long time. Today I decided to get on him with the help of the ever so wonderful draw-reins which I do use correctly, I don't ride the whole time with them on, just what I want to get accomplished then they come off. About 10 minutes into the argument with him about him putting his head up and inverting his back he finally decided that arguing wasn't worth it and gave in. Then he figured out that it was much easier to go the way I was telling him then to go the way he wanted to. We stopped, took the draw-reins off and went around the back on a walk, I even let him pop over the 2ft log and he was very excited about this!!
Tuesday my mom and I went to the Leslie Law ridding demo at the week one Event camp at Come Again Farms. I did learn a lot from the demo that is going to help me on all the ponies that I ride and I got to meet him!! He was extremely nice to a young event rider like me.
On the topic of Rhymekins hip, well he's had three weeks off, I got on him last week, and trotted and he was fine, taking even strided etc. I got on him today and he was back to being off. I think it has something to do with stomping at the flys when its hot and the ground is hard because last week it was rainy and cool and he was fine, this week it's rainy but muggy and buggy. So both him and Arrow are hopefully going to Janson's Vet clinic up in Indy. I'm sorry this is another pictureless post

Soooo about that horse thing

Rhyme is getting a month off so he can learn not to hurt himself and give me a panic attack. So in order of me not going nutso crazy and constantly worry about Rhyme, I GOT A NEW PONY. Well I am keeping him and riding him for awhile on a free-lease. His name is Teagan and he is a 15 yr old OTTB who, in his heyday jumped like this
Unfortunately he has developed Melanoma and can't jump that high, I think limited at BN\N. I THINK, nobody quote me on this. Anyway I will be working on a TON of dressagey stuff, even though he does HATE IT WITH A PASSION, but he doesn't bend and use his mile long TB legs like a good child. He hasn't been working in a long while so getting some muscles and then he can do what he loves JUMPING. Anyway Super Kid also decided to come into flaming heat this week so this new hunky guy is her new bf. Like she is head over hooves in love.

Post volunteer Leg Up wrap-up

You know that feeling when you wake up at 5am for a horse show and you are wide awake. This is why I am good at horse shows I can easily function on little sleep.
Two hour drive I arrived at the HHP ready to be where I was needed. First was dressage, I was told to scribe because one of the scribes was late. Well, that was a new experience, one you can't normally read my handwriting when I am taking time, let alone speedwriting, two I am the WORST speller EVER. I feel bad for the people who I scribed for because they probably couldn't read or understand the notes. SORRY!!
9am all xc volunteer's had the meeting and where on their way to their jumps. I was lucky and had an AWESOME spot for my BN and N.  I MEAN LOOK AT MY PICTURES!!

After xc I got to meet the wonder pony Conner and Cob Jockey and walked back to the barns with her. After turning in all my stuff that they give you for xc I want to see Rachel and baby Lyric and got the meet the pony Annie and WeanieEventer who both crack me up.
It was AWESOME to see the otherside of these shows that we all spend all our time training and saving up for. If you EVER get the chance volunteer at an event because they ALWAYS need help and they will be more than grateful for your help!

Summer, early morning rides and giraffe impressions

In Indiana summer is, MISERABLE. It wont rain much, its never cloudy, the ground is cement, bugs are EVERYWHERE, it is humid, like so humid your sweat does NOT evaporate. I can deal with straight heat, not humidity  . If you don't ride before 12 you wont be able to ride until after 8.
This morning I woke up and decided to ride the pony mare. We have recently been doing this, only not over jumps.
I decided that maybe I should try draw reins, I have never ridden her in them and you never know. WE HAD A BREAKTHROUGH!!!
I felt like we looked like this, she was using her back and stretching down and while still going forward in a nice trot. Sometimes when she stretches down she stops pushing with her hind and gets all western pleasure joggy. Can't allow that. Anyway we only cantered a little but her downwards transitions where amazing to. It was like I was ridding a smaller warmblood, bendy, light and happy moving. It was great. Now I am not planning to ride her everyday with them. I know a lot of people think that draw reins are torture devices. They are not if used CORRECTLY.

Anyway Rhyme is on only walk rides because he hurt his hip banging in on something. I am bubble wrapping that horse.

Long time no post

Well after IEA Super Kid had a few days off then I hopped on for a nice walk around. She felt funny. I asked my mom to watch her walk and trot around, she said she looked fine, but she felt funny. Anyway for the past week and a half  all we have been doing is walking and trotting around and some cantering. What i was noticing was she just felt tired, and not all Super Kid peppyness. She hasn't been getting Vitaplus and limited grass, as she gets fat fast on grass.
On a grain trip to TSC I picked up Red Cell, this being the first time I have using it, I am just giving her the recommended amount. So far I can tell its working, she is definitely has more energy.
On the other had Rhyme has a few days off. His hip or stifle is hurting him and he is taking a shorter step with it. AWESOOMEE my future above novice horse is sore.

Tack questions.

I know people who are straight Thinlin saddle pad users. Then others who don't use anything. What is your guys opinion on Thin Line vs. Eco Gold. I just want a half pad that is relatively thin, but protect the horses back from concussion etc.

IEA 2013 wrap up

We arrived Friday afternoon\ evening . Settled pony in her stall, unpacking everything. I decided to go on a short ride that evening. It went really well, she was light, paying attention and listening.  Saturday morning came raining and wet. Not good dressage weather. We had our dressage at 12 something, by that time it stopped raining. But started to be super windy and the temperature dropped. I personally think that our dressage test was the best we have ever done. But we got a 37, which is NOT was we usually get. The dressage judge said we needed more suspension? Um ok? Stadium was awesome, no rails and we where pretty quick going around. Cross country was Sunday, IT WAS AWESOME!!! We only had one refusal and came in before optimum time, no brakes oppsseee. Even though we ended up in 11th, I personally think that we did the best we ever had, my goal was to be in the top 10, and we where one placing away so I consider that a success.

Its here!!

We are leaving tomorrow afternoon after Super Kid gets a bath. We are braiding her mane when we get there then she gets to take a stroll around. If you happen to be around the Hoosier Horse Park come stop by and say hi. We are in barn L. Also here is the link for the live scoring LINK.  I will see if I can blog from the mobile app but I can't be positive that it will be vary good.

Old Man eventing

My first eventing experience was on my aunts horse that I was ridding. He is Marys Brenin, at the time that I got him he was 23 or so. He had done EVERYTHING. He did combined driving( did vary well with his now deceased brother Marys St.Patrick), welsh cob breed circuit, hunters, dressage and with me contesting and eventing. He was a old type cob, meaning he had HUGE legs, feet, head, neck, shoulders, EVERYTHING.

Swaybacked old cob look
He was one of the best horses I have ridden at this time. He taught me more things then I could have learned on a horse that was younger than him. I never actually took him to a rated event because being as old as he was, he couldn't handle the xc as well as a others, But I took him to local schooling shows and we did pretty good. He went back to my aunts house two years ago and I still miss him. Just because a horse is old in age but still has the want and drive and is able to do things like eventing keep riding them. The more they are in work the longer they will be able to do things.

IEA T-MINUS FOUR DAYS

Time to start cleaning and packing Super Kid and I's junk. Hay for a pony for three days, grain, water, supplements, saddles, bridles, brushes, tack junk, all my junk etc. If you want to see how we are doing go to LINK HERE!!! . We are in BN RIDER A.

LOOK AT THE WEATHER!!! I guess it is a good thing that Super Kid one, doesn't have shoes on so I don't have to deal with studs and two she has four wheel drive pre-programmed in her horsey brain.

Finals week, ten day count down, plus bugs bugs everywhere

Monday,Tuesday, and Wednesday are my finals. Two days down, one to go. Finishing up my junior year of high school is sad, but vary exciting. Tomorrow I have my final final of my junior year. What is not good is that it over the whole entire year of U.S History, I am really good at this class, I have been studying all last week, weekend, and the last two days. SO MUCH INFORMATION!!! Anyway I am READY for summer(not for the heat and bugs though)
I rode Rhymykins today and he was vary good except not wanting to pick up our left lead. We have been not wanting to pick up our canter when I say.So I got after him then he was like
R- " WHY ARE YOU BEATING ME WOMEN!!"
Me- Noooo, I asked you to pick up a canter
R- okay ( mini take off)
M- NOO, not like that, go back to a trot and canter
R- No, I DONT WANNA CANTER
M- 'Smack' Now CANTER
R- FINE

Yea, an annoying habit that he has developed. Anyway t-minus 10 days till IEA (Indiana's second recognized event in a year)
She decided to come into a flaming heat, which is rare for her, and hasn't been good the last two or three days. Mares -_- She had today off then tomorrow we are just doing a slow and easy dressage school. Get her brain working.
Like my new hair?

12 days

12 days to IEA. I am nervous and excited at the same time. Super Kid was a turd today, she might be a little sore due to yesterday's jumping, we poked around, bending left right, counter bending, and getting everything loose. Done with her, me sweating like a hog, not attractive. Next Rhyme, we had a joyous little romp around the field to get him forward, but I had no breaks. Walk, halt, repeat. A little better but he was literally like
Him: I told you mom, I am NOT feeling the whole stopping thing, I just want to go on my marry way.
Me: No, we ARE going to listen to half-halts and stop when I tell you
Him: Screw you, not doing that,
Me: Ok, fine I am running you into to fence, your fault
Then he listened. Anyway both horses where pig headed, but in their defense it has been hot and humid the past three days and the bugs are crazy bad and are constantly biting  and we have no fly spray. Bad, I know. We are getting some tomorrow

Riding Adventures

I am gearing up to take Rhyme on his first show season. EXCITING!!! I have done everything with his training and everything. We haven't jumped over anything vary big but he just trots over everything, then gets all excited because he is having fun. He's a good horse.
Our first show will probably be a dressage schooling show or something really low key just for his first time out. I am excited to actually take him to events and start eventing him.Rhyme cantering
Yesterday I got my wonderful mom to take some pictures and video's of me riding him for proof that I actually ride him and he looks awesome.
Look at that trot!
I thought it was just cool looking
No face

Don't mind my face that is not looking forward

Saving.... To blow it

I showed once last year, did NOT due well because I had refusals, not at the same jump though so we didn't get eliminated. ALMOSTTT. I have a irrational fear of ditches. not fun. I didn't place, end of the pack, end of last years story besides rocking it out at a clinic.
Anyway this spring after all summer, fall, winter saving I entered a school show. Decided to go up to novice, messed up my dressage test, horrible test, just BLAHHH, jumped awesomely, except through the combo, where I forgot that I had to take the whole thing over again instead I took it from a near walk. We finished in 8th place, YAY!

OMG a decent release, over a tiny oxer. LOOK HOW CUTE SHE IT!!
Anyway I sent in my entry for IEA Classic, HT's ( they offer novice and training long formats still, on the bucket list)
$312 dollars for ONE horse for a three day stay, two day compete. How do people compete multiple horses, I have no idea.

Don't mind my barely there choke hold release

A guy that I used to take lessons from helped me through my nerves and my warm up. He also explained to me what I do wrong.Have you ever driven a car with the E-brake on? I ride like that, I have my reins just a little short and don't release enough. Wastes a lot of Super Kid's energy, and mine. Well I have that to work on in the next 28 days before our next event. And our dressage, and about 4,000 other things. Anywayyy now its staying warmer and its easier to ride, so that's good!

Things that horse people wont admit, don't fees up to, and are extremely annoying

There are a few things that horse people are known for, lying to make themselves seem like they know everything about horses and all the horse sports. I personally will admit that I do not know everything, If I do not know about something I will go look up on it. What annoys me the most is when people are BENT on being right ALL THE TIME. If I went and looked up something from many different sources and they all say the same thing, then I am pretty sure that the research that I did is more believable than what you heard from a friend of a friend of a friend.
Second, that everybody wants to bred their horses. Personally I would LOVE to breed Super Kid, but I know that I probably wont because there are THOUSANDS of unwanted young horses that need homes and training. Also if the horse you want to bred isn't even trained, has a attitude problem and has nothing showing that the foal would be a nice foal, I don't think that you should bred. If you have foals from 2007 that haven't been sold, don't bred. I personally think that if you want have a good sport horse or pony you should see if your horse is good at the sport, then bred it to another horse that is good at the sport.
You wouldn't bred a horse that has clubbed feet, sickled hocked, toes out and has all conformational flaws, but because its cute you want to breed it? That offspring will have a signifintly less quality of life because its joints are always swollen and sore, etc. Yes, it can be managed with joint injections and supplements yes but in the long run it will have a hard life.
I have known enough horse people that I can say a lot of them lie. I have noticed that in the eventing community that this doesn't happen as much, but in the dressage I have seen the most of these people. I have met a few dressage people that I love and they are awesome people, they don't want to win all the time, they just want to have fun with their ponies and they always come first.

I don't know, just a long rant about things that I have observed. I would LOVE to hear everybody's thoughts and personal idea's etc with these subjects.

Here's Irmi's pretty face to lift up this post

Video of stadium

Heartland recap

Well Heartland started for me Friday night FREEEZING. Ok so my horses didn't get a bath like they needed. We arrived and it was almost dark, so I quick saddle Super Kid up and walked her around. She was good, stretching down and collected. Fed Arrow and Super Kid and finally got to the place where we were staying, around 10:30. Cue scrambling around to get to sleep for the 6am wake up for my moms first dressage test.
Next morning came with frost on the windshield(insert crying about how cold it was)  Arrows first dressage test went vary well, with a flying lead change in a counter canter serpentine. Nice for a full level higher test. Both test that they rode where really really good, but the judge didn't think so ( she must have not liked TB's)
My dressage test was at 12:30, so we had a lot of time sitting around. 11:30 rolled around, I tacked Super Kid up and headed to our warm-up. We had an awesome warm up, stretchy walk and trot, then collected walk, trot and canter, with leg-yields and half turn on the forehand. Walked to our arena. Go in and Super Kid decides to turn off her brain and not listen and pull on me, I get so distracted by this I make a half a circle disappear from our one and a half circle. Bell rings she asks me if I new where I messed up, I of course say yes and go back finish that move and finish the test. We still got a 37.13 which is really good.
We had until 3:30 to 4 to do our stadium round, another long time slot. I walked it with some of our good friends their trainer who I used to take lessons from, he helped me out by telling me what I could to to make a long distance ok for short pony legs and other things. He also helped me out when I was warming up Super Kid, saying that I have a habit of riding with the Emergency brake on. I ride with my reins a little short but don't completely give her her head over a jump. So in the video you can hear him saying let go, and I didn't get it until halfway through the course.
Over all it was a really good starter show for the season, we ended up 7th out of 8 because of my stupid dressage mistake and our mini refusal.  Once I can get the video of our stadium up I'll put a link up to it.

Lessons Kicked our booty

On a vary good end to a weekend we had a lesson today with Rachel, who has know Unicorn pony a vary long time. She trained her basically, anyway. She came to my house and gave us a lesson. WE NEEDED IT. I need to remember to keep my shoulders back and leg on, other wise Super Kid gets REALLY looky and will refuse, which is what we are trying to get over. WELL pony is athletic enough to take a fence from a almost complete stop launch in the air and over. Yea not fun, you end up with a swollen, continually getting purpler thumb knuckle. ( Using the ponnies ice horse ice wraps on it works vary well) Anyway it was a vary good and productive lesson.

On another note I went to the Hoosier Horse Fair, yesterday with my mom, I got to see Rhymes half brother Connor but I missed him rider every time we walked by ):  We also went and saw Mac'eo or some spelling like that. They are a horse acrobatic act from a family of gypsy's AWESOME and their ponies are PRETTYYY!! I have pictures but am  to lazy to go get my camera, put them on the computer, and put them here, I'll do it sometime, just not now. Anyway I need to see if my Latin extra credit is actually 500 words (second different language first was french which I almost failed) I am good at many things, languages is not a strong point. I can retrain a old stiff Morgan mare that didn't know crap about dressage into a awesome dressage horse and get sold to a hunter\jumper barn, I transformed my own horse from a vary round fat mare to a eventing machine, school is not my forte

Mid-Week picture

Irmi a five year old Lipizzan mare that I am training with my mom

Super Kid part 1

Super Kid has all the right breeding to be a great horse, but in a small horse package. At 15h she looks like a Connemara pony but she isn't at all related to that breed. Kid's dam is Knightwynd's Super Model a section D welsh cob mare. Her sire is Rollo a Holsteiner
stallion.

Rollo is by the Holsteiner stallion Ratibor and out of the mare Almadina which is a Lipizzaner.

Jumping is in his bloodlines, also TB.  You can look at her whole pedigree here

The moments we all hate

One of those moments is when your horse spooks and yanks the lung line out of your hand, then starts tearing around with the Lung line monster behind them. Its terrifying, visions of them getting tangled up and breaking things and killing herself and yadda. SHE WAS NOT HURT!
Anyway not much else interesting besides I rode Arrow, who is attempting to make it to third level with my mom. I got some awesome dressage funs out of him.

Another Awesome Ride

Well yesterday was a bad day, Super Kid was not either in a good mood or something because we trotted around like a reindeer. So called it quits and put her up. Now today was a good ride, she was listening and using her back and being a good pony. I also rode Rhyme, who was awesome for our second conditioning ride and he was AWESOMEEEE.
Anyway that is it for todayy

Big Shout Out

A big shout out to Cob Jockey who's horse is half brothers to Rhyme!
You can tell they are related

Horses = money

A rated event for ONE horse is about $300 or more. Plus gas for a almost three hour drive, plus hotel if you stay for all four days. GAHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Money is a need with horses, but if your like me and you have limited funding its hard. But horses are totally worth it.

Mud,Mud.MUD

Spring is officially here, and that means is mud season. YAYY not.  Today there is supposed to be a "Blizzard". Unforchanutly I am not in South Carolina as planed ): But we might be going out there for a few days during the summer. Ohh welll
Now we are getting ready for our first show, which is just a fun show. But after that we are going to IEA, sooo excited for that.
Yesterday Super Kid had a nice conditioning ride with Blitzen, then Rhyme got to go out and do a mini one, he actually got a little excited and bucked a few times, no big deal though. Anyway not much has been exciting.

It needs to get warmer

Super Kid has been AWESOME the past two days riding her. It might have something to go with my mom free lunging her with side reins since she's been on spring break. Yesterday we jumped to scary height on 2'9, my goal is 2'11 because the show we are going to we are in the Novice class, which is at 2'11. Anyways, I am sick and on meds and sooooo tired, soo yea tomorrow i'll put up the pictures of Irmi tomorrow

Eventful day

    I AM SO TIRED!!!
Starting with going to fitness bootcamp Im trying to get in better shape for this coming season. It is killing me. GAHHH,
Between this and work I have been running around nonstop, plus school gahh. I have been riding my pony. Wesnesday we had a snow day, rode her in the snow- lots of fun. Thursday I rode her in the indoor arena with Irmi, eventful but she was vary good. Friday we jumped, yay!! We tackled the huge height of 2'9, she was AWESOMEEE!!!!  We are defiantly going to the combined training schooling show, my mom is going to to Arrow and ride a second level dressage test with him.We are looking into an IDS schooling show later this spring for possibly for Rhyme as his first show, nice and calm.
I rode again today and worked on dressage, not evading the bit and having an emu neck, that is just not attractive. Lots of using out hind legs, crossing in front of each other  blah blah blah. Rhyme was good to, like he always is.

Snowww Ponyyy

I rode my pony today!! We had an unexpected snow day, sooo what better to do that ride the munchkin. She did AMAZINGGGGG. She was super careful because I rode her in the snow. She used her back, and wasn't fighting me for her head. Had a ton of fun, but have no pictures to show this. Hope everyone is have a good last few weeks of winter, we go to Heartland in April to start our show season as Novice, and maybe a dressage test.

I RODE!

I finally rode my ponies, both!!!  It being to mucky and watery sandyness in the arena, I was forced to ride in the in the indoor.  First my moms TB tried to kill us by running into us after being a turd on ghe lunge line, then the killer sun reflection almost did kill us. After me getting mad and "forcing" her to put her big girl pants on we where fine. Then Arrow left us then we where not ok again, but we had a good ride so we quit. Then I went and got gigantor who has officially reached 16.1h, but I SWEARR he looks bigger than that and we had a productive ride with him. All in all I can't wait until its officially warm and will stop getting cold and being dumb. ALSOO don't forget to comment!!!!
I has got a stick

ThunderSnow

Anybody who has lived in the Mid-West for any amount of time knows that the weather can be NUTSO. Well this last week we have had 50 degrees to about 5 degrees, I DON'T LIKE THIS!!! It is time to get a little warmer.
Last night we had snow, the sleet, the rain then snow then falling ice crap from the sky. Ponies stayed in their shelter almost all night I think. Know today it is supposed to be 40 something degrees -_- seriously???

Spring Shows, when is it time to move up?

I have picked out my first show of the yea, it is Heartland Combined Training and Dressage show!!! It's just a schooling show but on by a pony club, but its perfect to see how well Rhyme will be in his show career. It will be his first show, my mom will probably ride him in a dressage test and I will ride him in a green as grass class, he will be accompanied by Super Kid in a Novice combined test, so about 2'11, we where jumping this last year.
Also as the title of this chapter is called when is it time to move up a level??? I am not really in a hurry, but  I have been at Beginner Novice for about four years now, two of those with Super Kid. I can tell she really loves jumping Novice, but we haven't placed in the top ten yet in BN? Do I wait until we place well or just move up?

Dover model material, this is three months after  I got her
